Bali is one of the thousand
island that make up the Indonesian Archipelago. Bali has been famous
world wide as a leading tourist destination, known for its exotic
and vibrant art and culture, nature beauties and the hospitality
of the people. Bali has an area of 5.653 square kilometres. the
island consist mostly of an East-West string of mountains and their
alluvial that are widest on the south side. About 95% of Bali's
million people practise a form of Hinduism, blended with Buddhism,
and ancestor worship. for the Balinese people, their religion is
inseparable from everyday life.
No body misses on opportunity to worship God in unending series
of ceremonies that extend from birth to death, and far beyond. Most
Balinese people are rice farmers. Other important crops include;
coconut, vanilla, cloves, and maize(corm). Bali also known for it's
wide variety of tropical fruits sucs as, mangoes, mandarin oranges,
bananas, salak(snake skin fruit, grapes, and many others.
In the higlands, there are four lakes, Danau Batur (1,607 Ha), Danau
Bratan (375.60 Ha), Danau Buyan (336 Ha), and Danau Tamblingan (110
Ha). Apart from underground water sources, suplies of water used
for irigationand the peoples' daily needs come from the four lakes,
carried through more than two hundred rivers flowing from the lakes
into the sea. Danau Unda, Danau Ayung and Danau Petanu are just
a few examples of the large, south flowing rivers in bali.
Like the other parts of Indonesia, Bali has a tropical climate under
the influence of seasonal winds, Which change every six months.The
dry season lasts from April to October, and the rainy season from
October to April.
The rainfall in Bali is between 1250mm up to 3000mm per year, and
each month, the temperature is between 22 and 28, with everage wind
speeds of between 34km and 14km per hour. In written history, it
is clear that bali became the final crystallization of the development
and flourising of java's ancient Majaphit culture.
The harmonious integration with the local tradition of bali with
javanese majapahit culture, with it's hindu nuances, gave birth
to the hindu culture in bali, with has a uniqueness of it's on.positioned
in the midle of the range of islands spred from the east to the
west, bali, with is unique culture, as often called Nusa ning Nusa
or ' the island amongst a thousand islands'. Today, bali 's charisma
is not only reflected in it's economic development, but in it's
ability to invoke spiritual revalation. bali is inspiration.
