High on the slopes of Bali's Mount Agung sits Pura Besakih, widely
referred to as the "Mother Temple" of Hinduism in Bali. Pura
Besakih, or Besakih Temple in English, is the largest of the island's
11,000 or so Hindu temples; its 35 shrines and halls draw devotees from
all over Bali in massive numbers each year.
Tenganan Pegeringsingan is situated at Manggis district, approximately 65
km from Denpasar (the International Airport of Bali). It is near Candidasa
and can be easily reached by public or private vehicles.
From the village of Marga, the trip west returns to the
main route leading to Tabanan. At the crossroads of Kediri, a side-road
branches to the sea, ending on a green hill which slopes down to the beach
and to the remarkable temple of Tanah Lot, suspended on a huge rock offshore.
To reach the mountain range, you drive west from Denpasar
through Mengwi. As you leave the southern plains, the landscape changes
from flowing tiers of rice to motley patches of onion, cabbage and papaya
grown in the cool climate of the highlands.
Most of Bali's regencies have Pura
Luhur—literally high temples or ascension temples—which become
the focus for massive pilgrimages during three or five day odalan anniversaries
Batur temple or commonly called Ulun Danu
Temple is situated at 900 meters above sea level of Kalanganyar, Batur
village, Kintamani District on the eastern side of the main road leading
to Denpasar or Singaraja Via Bangli.
Kehen temple is one of ancients temples in
Bali where were housed there old bronze-made manuscripts. This temple
is worshipped by the people around the village.
Pura Goa Lawah, the Bat Cave Temple,
is located along the coast of southeastern Bali just west of Candidasa.
Goa Lawah means ‘bat cave‘ in Balinese, and in Bali, Goa lawah
is a famous tourist attraction, as well as a place of religious importance
to the Balinese people.
Mount Bromo (Gunung Bromo), located in the Tengger
Caldera, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in East Java,
Indonesia. It is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, and
even though with 2329m it is not the highest peak of the massif, it is
the most well known
Batu tourist resort and the vicinity, offering a breathtaking view and
a breezy atmosphere, is said to be the hill resort where tourists can
take a' rest to regain freshness and new spirit.
